Supporting Active Lifestyles

Whether you’re a runner, gym‑goer, footballer, or weekend walker, sports injuries can be frustrating and limiting. Common issues include:

  • Muscle strains

  • Joint sprains

  • Tendon discomfort

  • Overuse injuries

  • Reduced mobility

How Osteopathy
can help

Treatment may support recovery by:

  • Improving joint mobility

  • Reducing muscle tension

  • Supporting balanced movement patterns

  • Helping prevent future injuries

What we asses

Your osteopath will explore:

  • Your training habits

  • Foot and lower limb mechanics

  • Posture and movement patterns

  • Previous injuries

  • Sport‑specific demands

This helps us understand both the injury and the underlying cause.

What to expect.

Your treatment plan is tailored to your sport, your goals, and your body. Techniques may include:

  • Soft tissue therapy To ease tight or overworked muscles and improve circulation.

  • Joint mobilisation Gentle, controlled movements to improve joint function and reduce stiffness.

  • Passive stretching To improve flexibility, reduce tension, and support healthy movement patterns.

  • Taping or strapping To support joints or soft tissues during recovery or sport‑specific activity.

  • Medical acupuncture (if appropriate) Fine needles used to reduce pain, calm muscle spasm, and support healing.

  • Biomechanical assessment Looking at how you move, run, or load your body to identify contributing factors.

  • Rehabilitation exercises Simple, targeted exercises to build strength, stability, and resilience.

When to seek medical advice

If you experience severe swelling, inability to bear weight, or suspect a fracture, please seek urgent medical care.

All our osteopaths are qualified and registered with The General Osteopathic Council after completing a 4 year degree in osteopathy.

Every osteopath has their own unique style so the way one osteopath practises will differ from clinic to clinic and practitioner to practitioner. We pride ourselves in being dedicated to finding the right treatment style for your body.
