Osteopathy & Feeding Difficulties

Feeding Challenges Are Common
Whether breastfed, bottle‑fed, or mixed‑fed, many babies experience feeding difficulties. These may include fussiness at the breast or bottle, clicking sounds, wind, arching, or difficulty maintaining a latch.
How Osteopathy supports
Gentle osteopathic treatment can help by:
-
Reducing tension around the jaw, neck, and shoulders
-
Supporting smoother tongue and jaw movement
-
Improving comfort in feeding positions
-
Helping babies feed more efficiently and calmly
Our Approach
We work closely with parents to understand:
-
Birth history
-
Feeding patterns
-
Baby’s comfort and behaviour
-
Parental goals and concerns
Treatment is gentle, respectful, and always baby‑led.
When to seek additional support
If you have concerns about weight gain, dehydration, or persistent feeding difficulties, please speak with your midwife, health visitor, or GP.
All our osteopaths are qualified and registered with The General Osteopathic Council after completing a 4 year degree in osteopathy.
Every osteopath has their own unique style so the way one osteopath practises will differ from clinic to clinic and practitioner to practitioner. We pride ourselves in being dedicated to finding the right treatment style for your body.
