Understanding Colic

Colic can be exhausting and overwhelming for families. Long periods of crying, difficulty settling, and disrupted feeding patterns can leave parents feeling unsure and worried. While colic is common, it doesn’t mean you have to struggle through it alone.

How Osteopathy can help

  • Gentle paediatric osteopathic treatment can support babies experiencing colic by:

  • Reducing tension in the diaphragm and digestive system

  • Improving comfort around the ribs and abdomen

  • Supporting smoother feeding and winding

  • Helping babies settle more easily

  • Our approach is always gentle, responsive, and led by your baby’s cues.

What to expect.

Your osteopath will:

  • Take a full history of pregnancy, birth, and feeding

  • Assess your baby’s movement, comfort, and tension patterns

  • Use soft, calming techniques to ease discomfort

  • Offer practical advice for winding, positioning, and soothing

When to seek medical advice

If your baby has a fever, vomiting, blood in stools, or is difficult to rouse, please speak to a GP or health visitor promptly.

All our osteopaths are qualified and registered with The General Osteopathic Council after completing a 4 year degree in osteopathy.

Every osteopath has their own unique style so the way one osteopath practises will differ from clinic to clinic and practitioner to practitioner. We pride ourselves in being dedicated to finding the right treatment style for your body.
