Hello, I'm Emma

I initially qualified with a degree in Biology, before going on to complete a second degree in Podiatry at the University of Southampton.

Since qualifying, I have worked across the South Coast, gaining broad clinical experience. More recently, I have specialised within the Rheumatology department in Dorset, working as both a Specialist Podiatrist and Advanced Practitioner.

What made you want to be a podiatrist?

I have always been drawn to working with people and making a positive difference to their wellbeing. Foot and ankle pain can have a significant impact on quality of life, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help improve a patient’s mobility and comfort. I also love to chat and meet new people. One of the most fulfilling parts of my role is seeing patients return to the activities they enjoy - whether that’s walking the dog, dancing, or running marathons.

What strengths or skill sets do you have as a podiatrist?

I have been fortunate to gain experience across a wide range of podiatric care, including musculoskeletal conditions (joints, muscles, soft tissues, and bones), complex wound care, diabetic foot management, and dermatological conditions. My particular passion lies in rheumatology, with significant experience managing the foot and ankle manifestations of inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases. I take a holistic, patient-centred approach to supporting individuals living with these long-term conditions. I also have extensive experience prescribing and providing a wide range of orthotic devices, from off-the-shelf insoles to fully bespoke orthotics, to help manage conditions such as plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and tendinopathies.

What do you enjoy outside of life as a podiatrist?

Outside of podiatry, I enjoy walking my Springador, Bella, as well as baking and reading. I’m always happy to receive book recommendations or new recipes from patients!
